Phonics

Children are taught letter-sound correspondence in English.  This provides a solid foundation for reading, writing and spelling.

Reading

Children are taught all areas of reading from decoding words to inference, prediction and summarising skills.  It is important children learn to read for meaning and display a sound comprehension of the texts they are reading.

Maths

Children can study all elements of maths including number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, measurement, properties of shape and statistics.

Writing

Children will learn all the elements of writing.  They will explore the key features of different genres as well as learning how to plan, edit, draft and publish their writing.  They will develop their technical writing skills as well as exploring their creativity and imaginations.
